Winter 2025 Newsletter

January 20, 2026

After the energy of the holidays, El Hogar is quieter than usual. While the classrooms rest, the work of care, planning, and preparation continues. This slower season gives us space to reflect on the year ahead and on our community of supporters who make it possible for El Hogar to remain a place of stability, learning, and hope all year long.

The El Hogar Class of 2025

In November, we celebrated graduation at El Hogar. Many of our students are the first in their families to finish high school, and the day was filled with pride, emotion, and heartfelt thanks for the supporters who helped them reach this milestone.

The Christmas Season at El Hogar

December at El Hogar is quiet as each child’s holiday experience unfolds in a different way. Some return home to family for part or all of the break, while others remain on campus, where El Hogar is their only safe place. Through traditions, city outings, shared meals, and the steady presence of caregivers and supporters, the Christmas season becomes a time of safety, joy, and hope.

Why We Give

Sonrisas El Hogar: Project Update

Construction continues on our new community dental clinic, Sonrisas El Hogar, steadily continuing towards our goal of beginning clinic operations in ???. With this entrepreneurial program, we will be able to serve the wider community and generate a modest income so that we can continuing to care for our students, creating brighter smiles and stronger futures across Tegucigalpa.

The external walls have been built up, defining the structure of the clinic and the roof and the plumbing have been completely installed. The next immediate steps will include the electrical system installation and the construction of the internal walls and divisions. Dr. Nora has been working closely with the engineers and clinic equipment specialist to make sure that the design and implementation are aligned, and everything stays on track. Stay tuned for more updates!
