Students are admitted to El Hogar for many different reasons. Some have been orphaned, or abandoned, or have had their rights violated. El Hogar is committed to providing the care they need and, above all, maintaining relationships with their families whenever possible. In the rare case that a student arrives without knowledge of their family, we do our best to reunite them.
Four years ago, a boy came to El Hogar Projects through DINAF. This boy did not know anything about where or even who is father was. After four years of searching for information, we finally found a possible location for his father, and we dedicated a day to look for him. With all the appropriate biosecurity measures, we went to a village outside of Valle de Ángeles but could not find the boy’s father. We spoke with two former neighbours who provided information on where the father used to work when he lived in the village. We made several phone calls and sent messages to that number. Initially, we got no response. Despair and anguish showed on the boy’s face. However, after many more phone calls, we were finally able to communicate with the boy’s father! The father could not believe that after so long without knowing anything about his son, he was hours away from being reunited with him. Back in Tegucigalpa, we arrived in the agreed upon place. A man of average height and brown skin appeared among the crowd, acting as if he was trying to find someone. Just at that moment, the boys said “Yes, he is my father.”
The moment most anticipated by the boy and his father arrived. They were face to face and still unable to believe that it was true that they were looking at each other again. There were a lot of mixed feelings between the father and the son for the many questions that they had, but above all showing the joy of being together again after such a long time. Now they have the opportunity to strengthen their family ties again.

Los estudiantes son admitidos en El Hogar por muchas razones diferentes. Algunos han quedado huérfanos, abandonados o violados sus derechos. El Hogar se compromete a brindarles la atención que necesitan y, sobre todo, a mantener relaciones con sus familias siempre que sea posible. En el raro caso de que un estudiante llegue sin el conocimiento de su familia, hacemos todo lo posible para reunirlos.
Hace 4 años, un niño llegó a los Proyectos El Hogar por el DINAF sin saber nada de su padre. Después de 4 años buscando información, por fin encontramos una posible ubicación de su padre, y se dedicó un día para ir a buscar el padre del niño. Con todas las medidas de bio seguridad, fuimos a una aldea en Valle de Ángeles, pero no encontramos al padre. Dos antiguos vecinos lo conocieron y brindaron información en donde el padre trabajaba cuando vivía por ahí. Se realizaron varias llamadas telefónicas y envíos de mensajes a ese numero, pero al inicio no obteníamos respuestas positivas. La desesperación y la angustia se notaba en el rostro del niño. Sin embargo, después de un ratito, ¡logramos comunicarnos con el padre del niño! El padre no podía creer que después de tanto tiempo sin saber de su hijo, estaba a horas de reencontrarse con el. Llegamos al lugar acordado en Tegucigalpa y en ese momento, entre la multitud apareció un señor de estatura promedio, de piel morena, que miraba hacia todos lados como si su intención era ver a alguien, justo en ese momento dijo el niño, “Si, él es mi papá.”
Llego el momento más esperado por el niño y su padre. Estaban frente a frente y aun sin poder creer que era verdad que se miraban nuevamente. Fue un montón de sentimientos encontrados entre el padre e hijo por las muchas preguntas que se tenían, y sobre todo mostrando la alegría de estar juntos nuevamente después de tanto tiempo ya que sabían que tenían la oportunidad de fortalecer sus lazos familiares nuevamente.
