Fall 2025 Newsletter

October 22, 2025

At El Hogar, remarkable things are happening in Honduras – and our supporters are part of each story. From students teaching their neighbors to alumni leading in their communities, our community’s support helped make these transformations possible.

Counting Down the Weeks to Graduation!

As the school year winds down, things are busier than ever at El Hogar!  Our 13 twelfth graders are in the middle of their five-week professional internships, working in small groups at a construction company, toy block factory, hospitals and a pharmaceutical manufacturer.  With their academic and technical requirements complete, they’re now gaining real world experience before graduation.  When they return to campus at the end of the month, they’ll write reports, take the national anthem exam – a unique Honduran graduation requirement – attend a Honduran history seminar, and get ready to celebrate graduation on November 15th!  Be sure to check our social media pages then for photo and video highlights from the celebration.

Our other students are also busy wrapping up their school year with exams, final projects, and special activities. Classrooms are full of energy as everyone looks forward to celebrating their hard work and growth over the past year.

Under the Mango Tree: Árboles de Amor y Esperanza

Last year, Sofia and Camila came to El Hogar lagging behind in their studies.  In years prior, they attended an under-resourced public school where they were overlooked because of challenges in the public system. With extra support from their teachers at El Hogar, they not only caught up to their peers, but discovered a dream: to become teachers themselves. Inspired, they started a small school in their neighborhood, inviting neighboring children to attend daily tutorials. Their story is a powerful example of how education transforms lives and spreads hope into the community. Watch their journey and see how your support helps El Hogar students grow into leaders.

Graduate Spotlight: Brenda’s Story

Brenda, an El Hogar graduate now in her third year of university, continues to embody the values she learned during her time at El Hogar. Quiet and steady, she leads by example and continues to support her younger sisters who are still at El Hogar.  Brenda is pursuing her dream of becoming a social worker, and staying connected to the place that gave her a home and reunited her family. Hers is a story of gratitude, growth, and giving back.

Why We Give

Sonrisas El Hogar: Transforming Smiles and Communities

Ana’s life was transformed when she received dental care at El Hogar. Her new smile gave her confidence, comfort, and pride, proof of how access to quality care can change a child’s future. With our new community dental clinic, Sonrisas El Hogar, we’ll be able to bring that same transformation to hundreds more children and families each year. This new, entrepreneurial step will help us serve the wider community while continuing to care for our students, creating brighter smiles and stronger futures across Tegucigalpa.
